Nodding Onion – 1 Gallon Pot

1 Gallon Pot

Allium cernuum

Nodding Onion is famous for the unique orientation of its flowers, which face downward, “nodding” toward the ground. Clusters of star-like blossoms dangle from each hooked stem, blooming in shades of cream, pale pink, and light lavender. These flower clusters attract a variety of pollinators, particularly bumblebees, which are strong enough to gather nectar and pollen while hanging upside-down. Plant this native allium in large groups for a stunning late-summer display, or mix it with sedges and prairie grasses for an appealing effect.
